Opportunity:  Continuous Improvement / Health & Safety Coordinator (Monarch Group – A Wentworth Technologies Company)

Location: Oakville, Ontario

Reports into:Plant Manager

Hours of work: Full-time – Monday to Friday (8.5 hours per day) with an unpaid lunch hour

Job Introduction

The Continuous Improvement / Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the proper implementation of the concepts of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement across all functions of the company. Additionally, this position will develop, implement, and refine all H&S procedures and programs in accordance with regulatory and corporate H&S requirements to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This position works closely with the Operations Team on continuous improvements and safety projects and will report to the Plant Manager. 

Responsibilities

Mold repair/ refurbishment / maintenance for both facilities:

  • Support the successful implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles across all business functions
  • Organize, facilitate, and promote continuous improvement initiatives across all functions including development of SOP’s and KPI’s and conduct training as necessary
  • Document and maintain CI data to include tracking of projects and estimated savings
  • Lead improvement initiatives directed towards capability enhancements and waste reduction
  • Lead plant safety program, maintain safety records and OHSA compliance programs
  • Deliver safety training and related documents that each employee has completed the requirements – through online training platform
  • Actively participate in all incident and near miss investigations and analyze relevant data. Conduct follow up interviews and root cause investigations. Organize and present findings to leadership with recommended corrective and preventive actions
  • Oversee internal process and participate in safety audits and facilitate the implementation and sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices
  • Participate and facilitate safety committee meetings and records
  • Review and interpret new and proposed HS regulations for applicability, develop associated implementation and training programs and procedures
  • Documentation and record keeping of health and safety data. Review and approve the proposed introduction of new chemicals, equipment and processes to maintain safety
  • Maintain working relationships with regulatory agencies and auditors; ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected
  • Additional duties as requested

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High degree of energy and passion with a “can-do” attitude
  • 3-year degree or diploma in manufacturing or related program
  • 3+ years of practical experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience facilitating safety practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to impact change through kaizen events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency with MS Office, process mapping, and time study applications
  • Past experience of being a certified member of a JHSC
